1962, Eddie Hackett

Although evolved over time and away from the original Eddie Hackett design, Blacklion GC now uses different tees and has 10 greens so both 9’s play differently. The course is 5,839 Mtrs or 6,385 Yards long for a Par of 72. It’s not Ireland’s longest but remains a stern test of golf, especially with the subtle undulations, the presence of the lake and the dominant wind direction being South West.

Other courses may be more challenging and have grander clubhouses but few can compare with the serenity and beauty of Blacklion where both the tee box at the 180- yards, par-3, 2nd hole and the green daringly jut out into the lake making the task of keeping your ball dry more than a little daunting
