Top Christmas for Ronan and Barry

Barry McGrory hit top form in the first Christmas Hamper with 41 points and seemed destined to for victory only for Ronan McCabe to shoot his top score of the year. With 42 points, Ronan won the hamper with Paul Ferguson in third place on 40 points.

Barry however was not dispirited and entered for hamper 2. This time there was no mistake: Barry’s 39 points took the hamper with Stephen Garvey (37) runner-up. Roly Curran was in third place with 36 points.

After the elation of a Ryder Cup win for Europe, Blacklion staged its own version – the Community Spirit Cup. A team from thee North led by Club Captain Noel Melanaphy faced team South captained by Michael McHugh.

Though the margin of victory was not as great as that of Europe, Team south triumphed by 16 – 8. This new initiative was a tremendous success and the organisers are to be congratulated not only for the competition but for the apres-match festivities.
